Caregivers Retreat

Reclaiming Ourselves: A Journey Inwards for Caregivers

Date TBA

This special weekend retreat is designed to support and nourish family caregivers. It offers an opportunity to feel rejuvenated and renewed with a gentle schedule of activities including nature walks, painting and collaging, sharing stories, guided meditation, as well as alone time for personal reflection and relaxation. All delicious meals will be included.

Being the primary support for a loved one who is vulnerable or who has a disability can be an all consuming and sometimes overwhelming experience. Some of us feel isolated, exhausted and disconnected from ourselves outside of our caregiving role.
“When I’m not caring for others, who am I?”

Plan Institute invites you to join with other caregiving individuals and couples who are looking for a renewed sense of self and deeper intimacy with their partners, friends and community.

We hope this will be a wonderful break in your busy lives to share rest and rejuvenation with others.

"As Caregivers we put out so much, and sometimes we need to nurture ourselves before we bottom out.  At the time I went to the Caregiver's Retreat I was hanging on by a thread, and it was absolutely revitalizing.  I would so recommend this retreat to other Caregivers!"

- Carolyn Main, Caregivers Retreat 2014

Cathy Anthony is a proud parent of two wonderful adult children.  Her family joined PLAN as young parents, and she truly feels blessed for the journey over the last 32 years which her son Josh has lead her on. What has enriched her has been the connection to families, who have been her mentors, guides and supporters. Cathy has over 25 years of experience supporting and advocating with families who have a family member with disabilities, including facilitating workshops and group discussions.

Carolyn Main is the parent of a delightful and talented 36 year old daughter with CP, as well as two other adult children. Carolyn, having been a single parent for many years, was enormously grateful for the Caregivers Retreat she attended two years ago. She is very much looking forward to facilitating this restorative weekend for others. Carolyn has been a bereavement group facilitator for 15 years, has her own private counselling practice, and has facilitated several workshops and presentations across BC.
